WordPress is seeking feedback as to whether they should consider canceling support for IE 11. Dropping support seems to only have its benefits as it will increase user experience and developers will find the WordPress platform easier to work with.

Dropping IE11 support will free up a lot more time for WordPress developers, and it will not make an awful lot of difference as there are currently only low volumes of people using IE11. We would see smaller scripts, lower maintenance burden, and decrease build times.

Dropping support for IE11 will not be all positive though, as some individuals may be restricted to using the browser for legal or other reasons.

Feedback

Hence why WordPress is seeking feedback on whether to drop the support for IE11, once feedback is received a decision will be made.
